Fun Activities for Standardized Testing
As of this posting, our state will NOT be taking standardized test this year due to a dispute with a vendor. However, we still did some activities to help celebrate our hard work and have some fun to get ready for our test. In the media center we showcased some Hooray for Diffendoofer Day activities.
Kahoot!
The hands-down favorite in the 3rd-8th grades was the Diffendoofer Day Kahoot! If you have not signed up for Kahoot, I highly recommend it. The students compete against either other in online quizes that either you create or find online. They can work in teams or individually.

Students see the questions displayed on a device or a projector |
|
This is one of the questions I created for my quiz. |
|
Students discuss with each other about the right answer |
|
Then they answer the question. |
|
Once the time is over, it shows whether they are correct or not. It also displays what rank they are in order of points received. |
|
If you want to use the quiz I have it available on the site. Then just type in Diffendoofer.

Pin the Eyebrows on Mr. Lowe
For K-3rd grade students, they enjoyed Pin The Eyebrows on Mr. Lowe game. I used an old science board to make the outline. Then I made trapezoid eyebrows for the students to stick to the board.
|
Poor Mr. Lowe looks so sad |
I have made a printable version of Mr. Lowe which is 28"x 32" that you can download for free from my TeachersPayTeachers store.

For the upper grades, I just drew it on the whiteboard |
Students were given a black eyebrow and a silver permanent marker to write their names on. I just used a piece of fleece material for the blindfold. *
The key is to cover their nose. If you don't, they just look out the bottom of the blindfold and put it exactly right.
Word Search
To help occupy students while we waited their turn, they completed a word search and a game where they can make words using the letters in Diffendoofer Day.
These were both free activities that can be found on TeachersPayTeachers. The word search is available
here and the making up words activity is available
here
Hope you have a great Diffendoofer Day and never have to go to dreary Flobbertown!!
